Armor Mitigation. When a creature with an Armor Class of 18 or higher takes damage from Valentine’s Infallible Snowpiercer, or an ally within 5 feet of them takes damage from it, the high-AC creature can use their reaction to reduce the damage by an amount equal to half their Armor Class (rounded up).

Residual Shards. Valentine’s Infallible Snowpiercer attack leaves behind a crystalline shard of celestial ice embedded in a solid surface at the end of its trajectory. A creature within 5 feet of a shard can use an action to retrieve and activate it. The creature gains the effect of the mirror image spell for 1 minute, but it only creates one illusory duplicate. Each time Valentine hits the creature with an attack during the duration, roll a d6. On a roll of 3 or higher, the duplicate is hit instead of the creature, and the duplicate is destroyed.

Spellcasting. Valentine casts one of the following spells, using Charisma as the spellcasting ability (save DC 17):

  • At will: light, ray of frost (3d8 cold)
  • 2/day each: cure wounds (4th-level version), dimension door
  • 1/day: cone of cold

Actions

Multiattack. Valentine makes two Infallible Snowpiercer attacks.

Infallible Snowpiercer. Valentine fires an unerring slug of frost from his magic railgun, Snowpiercer, at one creature he can see within 100 feet. The target takes 16 (2d10 + 5) piercing damage plus 3 (1d6) cold damage. This attack automatically hits and ignores half cover and three-quarters cover. Forced Inaccuracy. If Valentine is blinded, distracted, or under any effect that would normally impose disadvantage on attack rolls, the Infallible Snowpiercer instead requires each targeted creature in the line to make a DC 17 Dexterity saving throw, taking no damage on a success.

Bonus Actions

Charge Snowpiercer (Recharge 5-6). Valentine charges Snowpiercer with celestial frost. The next time Valentine makes an Infallible Snowpiercer attack before the end of his next turn, the attack deals an extra 7 (2d6) cold damage to the first target. Additionally, the slug pierces through the target and continues in a straight line, automatically hitting up to three more creatures in that line within 60 feet of the first target. The second target takes the attack’s normal damage plus an extra 7 (2d6) cold damage. The third target takes the damage plus an extra 14 (4d6) cold damage. The fourth target takes the damage plus an extra 28 (8d6) cold damage.

Legendary Actions

Valentine can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature’s turn. Valentine regains spent legendary actions at the start of his turn.

Reposition. Valentine teleports up to 20 feet to an unoccupied space he can see. Snap Shot. Valentine makes one Infallible Snowpiercer attack. Overcharge (Costs 2 Actions). Valentine uses Charge Snowpiercer, even if it is not charged.
